Conceptual motorbike paint design (GSXR 1000 K9)

A 3D concept exploration to create a unique paint identity for a track motorcycle—designed directly on a digital model using Blender, with the goal of testing ideas before committing to real fairings.

A few years ago, I started personalizing my second-hand GSXR 1000 K9 track bike. I wanted a design that actually felt like mine, but the market was full of commercial replicas and expensive custom paint jobs that didn’t fit my taste or budget. So I decided to explore the process myself and treat it as a creative engineering exercise: design first, commit later.

That’s when I discovered Blender. It gave me a practical way to paint directly over a 3D surface and test multiple visual concepts quickly. The learning curve was real—and my computer also had its own limits—but I kept iterating until I had a collection of concepts I genuinely liked.

To make the workflow possible, I adapted a 3D model of my motorcycle to work properly in Blender. While I didn’t achieve the pixel-perfect definition I initially dreamed of, the final outcome still gave me something more valuable: a way to explore identity and geometry together, and to do it with full freedom.

After creating these designs, I considered taking the next step and painting them on real fairings. Because I wanted to preserve the original look of the bike, I planned to buy a separate set of new fairings. However, life brought a new motorcycle project that may require additional modifications and new elements on the bodywork. With that uncertainty, I decided to pause the painting investment until the final modifications are fully defined.

For now, this remains a concept exploration—ready to be revived when the bike’s direction is clear. If you’re interested in the files, the process, or collaborating on a future iteration, feel free to reach out.
